Power wheelchairs are electric mobility vehicles designed for interior use as well as having the capacity to roll outside for a time. They are more comfortable when used on level and straight terrain such as apartments, shopping malls and the clinic. Though our electric wheelchairs can and do roll on cycling lanes and sidewalks, their batteries will tend to discharge faster on unlevel terrain. They are versatile and easy to use mobility tools. Their compact format makes them ideal in tight quarters and small housing.

Rules and Obligations

-You must have an area protected from weather and theft where to store the electric wheelchair. This may be a shed, a garage, an indoor parking or even a tarp and padlock.

-The batteries must be charged for a period of 8 hoursat the end of the day, after every use. For long periods of inactivity, the batteries must be fully charged every week to maintain battery life.

- A motorized mobility aid is covered by residential insurance in case of accidents and theft.

All mobility vehicles are governed under the by the SAAQ traffic laws. Here is an abbreviated list:

- When you are on the sidewalkyou are considered a pedestrian. When you are on cycling lanes or rolling on the curb (street with limit less than 50km/h), you are considered a cyclist.

- An orange flag positioned at 1.5m (5') from the ground is required when outside.

- You can't be on your phone unless completely immobile.

- You must be sober while driving.
